Survey results

Here are our big primary leaders survey results!

If you didn’t get a chance to have your say, don’t worry, you can still take part and answer our 5 minute Primary Computing Leaders Survey. If you’ve already completed the survey, we also have a short ideas and suggestions form that you can use to tell us any further ways we can improve our support to you.

We noticed that many of you manage only computing as a subject in your school, have not been doing it for long and are relatively new to the teaching profession. The ‘Leading Primary Computing’ course will help new primary computing leaders to clarify their role and develop and implement a broad and balanced curriculum. You will learn how best to lead the improvement of computing teaching and learning, and to provide professional support and development to others.

Subject Knowledge

You made it very clear where you needed more support and CPD!

The NCCE Physical Computing Kits have launched across all of our Computing Hubs. The kits are packed full of computing resources for primary students, and are available to borrow free for all state-funded schools in England.

Take a look at our range of 90-minute physical computing courses, designed to give you hands-on experiential learning and give you the confidence to teach primary computing:

Leadership

We heard what you said about assessment and evidence, and have updated our Assessment of Primary Computing course. We also have a course on Assessing Computational Thinking in Primary Computing.

As you can see, training staff and improving their subject knowledge and confidence is key for the successful teaching of computing in your school.

We are currently designing more CPD around how to deliver effective staff meetings and give you the tools to provide more support for your staff, watch this space!

If you are using the teach Computing curriculum, one of the most effective ways you can get your teachers on board and feeling more confident, is to get them to sign up to our Getting Started courses, specific to each year group:

Getting Started in Year... - Year group specific CPD that is great to refer to your fellow teachers who need to gain a little confidence in their specific curriculum. - Year 1 - Year 2 - Year 3 - Year 4 - Year 5 - Year 6

Thank you!

Gaining insight, ideas and feedback from you is crucial to the way we function; we are here to support you in your leadership role. Please tell us if you have any further ideas or suggestions or feedback by filling in this short ideas and suggestions form.
